Your fat you cant possibly want to look sexy.

Why is it we live in a society that thinks you have to be a size 10 to be happy. Yes we all have to be careful of our health no one wants to make themselves ill because of their size or weight. It does not mean though that if your not a size 10 you cant live life, there is no reason why you cant be happy and lead a full and experimental life. There is a large proportion of our population who love curvy women and would not give a second look at a skinny girl. Its about confidence and yes name calling and un-educated people can knock the confidence out of you I myself have suffered from name calling but I have learned to brush it off and embrace the body I live in. Yes I enjoy food, burgers, chocolate you name it I love it but why should I not enjoy food just because of what people think I should look like.

Over the course of the last two years because of my business I have had to travel the world to find lingerie that I am passionate about lingerie for the larger lady. I have found that different countries produce different sized women. When I travelled to the Philippines it was comical when I was trying to explain bust sizes here in the UK. I asked what would be the the difference in cost depending on the bust size. I was asked how big a bust do you want, I replied up to a GG unfortunately they did not know the british sizes so they asked in centimetres how big a boob would be. 35cm I told them it took a good ten minutes for them to pick up their chins off the floor. No surely no one has a boob that big came back the reply to which I had to insist that there were a huge amount of women with boobs that big.

America was a completely different kettle of fish they were use to dealing with larger sizes and could supply me with a huge range of lingerie off the peg at a heart beat. Most of my lingerie for the larger lady comes from America and my experiences on my travels have opened my eyes to how different countries treat larger ladies when it comes to lingerie.

Most high street outlets can supply lingerie in bigger sizes but its not the type of lingerie you would expect to wear in order to make your partners heart skip a beat. I mean Bridgette Jones style knickers are not going to make any partner melt with passion in the bed room. I have and still spend long days promoting and producing sexy lingerie of all sizes and it gives me such a pick up when we dispatch lingerie to our loyal customers as I know that the parcel we have sent is going to bring so much happiness excitement and deep down sexy fun.

Lingerie for the larger lady

One of the reasons I started my own lingerie business was because I saw that there was very little choice of sexy lingerie for anyone over a size 16 on the high street. It took me some months to track down suppliers who could help me offer any sense of range to my customers. In the end I had to turn to suppliers in the USA as they offered a full range in the sizes I wanted to go up too. I now have over 400 garments that go from a size 6 up to a size 36. On my travels it has always left me confused why the high street shops do not cater for larger sizes.

Shirley of Hollywood.

Back in 1948, Herman Schlobohm was selling  supplies to the bra and corset industry in New York USA. Taking his trade west to California, he started the National Corset Supply House, a family business that grew to include sons Jon in 1960 and Roy in 1961.

After years of manufacturing lingerie components, the Schlobohms decided to put the pieces together and manufacture their own range of lingerie in 1966. Four years later, they purchased the “Shirley of Hollywood” name from a retiring customer and expanded their product line to include corsets, bustiers, babydolls, chemises, bras, panties, thongs, stockings, pajamas, lounge wear and much much more. With Roy overseeing production and design and Jon handling operations and finances, the company continued to expand and innovate, adding new products and new collections in demand from coast to coast.

Today, the Shirley family includes more than 100 employees, most long-term. With a keen talent for design the team and state-of-the-art sewing facilities in the U.S. and abroad, Shirley has become a premier provider of sexy lingerie and loungewear, bringing the magic and mystique of Hollywood to women everywhere.

Integrity and innovation remain the foundation of Shirley of Hollywood, a company founded with the vision of providing high-end, high-fashion intimate apparel painstakingly crafted to uncompromising standards.Vision, value, a commitment to quality and a commitment to service—it all adds up to a difference you can see in every Shirley garment…..in every Shirley employee…. in every satisfied Shirley customer.

This is one of the first suppliers I found on my quest they are incredibly helpful and offer lingerie at the highest quality. The prices are very keen and they offer designs that are designed solely for larger sizes. A lot of suppliers offer bigger sizes but they are just duplicates of a smaller design with just more fabric. Obviously this can look hideous in the larger sizes. Were Shirley wins is the larger sizes are designed to flatter someone who a larger size which is important.

A large part of my life is consumed searching for larger sizes and I always get excited when I find a new supplier. Hopefully I will be able to double my stock holding in the next six months so that no matter what shape or size you are you will always find something sexy to wear.

Trust.

I have been in business now for two years and enjoy every minute of it. I will be the first to admit that some sides of the business I knew nothing about. Web site design and social media were two that stood out like a sore thumb. So the only thing I could do was look for support by employing someone to help.

The web site was the first thing to sort out I asked around friends and I was guided to a man that came highly recommended. I invited him round and we sat down and outlined what I wanted and he outlined what the best route to take. He left and that was the last I ever saw of him he just disappeared off the face of the earth. I was explaining what happened to a friend and she said she knew someone who could help. Again I met up outlined the plan and at least he did not disappear but it became obvious that he was going to be unable to give me what I needed. So off I went again I found two companies who gave me a £14k and £7k quotes and so I had to think long and hard if I wanted to spend such a large proportion of my savings on a web site. Whilst I was deliberating I was contacted by a man who told me he could make me a web site for £800 and he came heavily qualified and with good references. So again another meeting a hand shake and I was off. The web site was live in two weeks and I was so excited to see it. Unfortunately it had major flaws and after 8 months of cash stress tears I decided I had to learn to do it myself which now I do. All the stock entering all the admin all the web site work. At first it seemed like a foreign language I just could not understand any of it but with the help of you tube I managed to learn more and more day after day.

People kept telling me how important social media was to a business but I did not know how to work social media or even what social media was out there. So yet again I set out to find someone to help. Meetings after meetings and finally I had a social media company on board. I had to take a deep breath when I had the quote £20 per hour and I needed at least 10 hours a week if not 15 hours. I had no choice but to accept the quote and hope that I would be able to learn how to do it myself and phase the company out. The first month nothing happened and my direct debit went out none the less obviously I was concerned so I phoned the company to be told they had been working on it doing all the setting up of accounts. They told me that I would see the results next month. Well my relationship with the company was very luke warm and after having my blog shut down due to the company in question making a huge mistake I decided enough was enough and I now do all the social media myself.

This brings me to the question of trust when you set up a business it is a dream for it to succeed alot of people plough vast sums of money into the venture sometimes lending way more than they can ever afford to pay back and there are alot of companies you will come across who just want to strip you of every spare penny you have do very little work for it and then leave you high and dry when times get a bit tough.

I have learnt so much in such a little time and I am proud as punch of what I have achieved there are some days when I do pat myself on the back.
